Fan has an upper and lower casing of mild steel. The non-ferrous turbine wheel and propeller are mounted on a steel spindle which is carried on ball-bearings and runs in a non-ferrous housing. Lubrication of the bearings is effected by a “Stauffer” cup on the outside of the fan housing. An optional protecting grill at the inlet and/or outlet of the fan can be mounted for safer working. Lifting eyes are fitted for easy transport.

    Gasfreeing of ship's oiltanks when tankers are in ballast before being cleaned (with two or more fans on board, tankers can be gasfreed in six to eight hours): gasfreeing of pumprooms. Removal of welding fumes from the fuel tanks or double bottom tanks. Supply of cool moist air to enable the crew to enter the tanks quickly after hot water or steam cleaning. Provision of fresh air when painting the tanks.
